5Cr5MoWVSi, as a medium and high alloy hot work die steel, has achieved a balance between high temperature strength (600 ℃) and thermal fatigue performance through W-Mo-V composite carbide strengthening and optimized heat treatment process. When it replaces 3Cr2W8V, the service life of copper alloy die-casting die is increased by more than 50%, and the impact toughness of shield cutter ring is more than 30 J/cm ². It is an ideal material for complex thermo-mechanical coupling conditions (such as ferrous metal extrusion and hard rock tunneling). This die steel has the core advantages of "high hardness + corrosion resistance and wear resistance + fine grain structure", and is suitable for high-load and long-life die scenarios.
Smelting method
Electric arc furnace primary smelting + refining + vacuum degassing: electric arc furnace (EAF) smelting is adopted, and LF furnace refining and VD vacuum degassing processes are combined to reduce gas content (H ≤ 2.0 ppm) and inclusions; Optional process optimization: Electroslag remelting (ESR) is adopted for high-end products to further improve purity and structure uniformity (refer to 4Cr5MoWVSi process of similar steel);
Process Characteristics
Heat treatment process:
Annealing: heat preservation and slow cooling at 760 ~ 780 ℃, hardness ≤ 248HBW, optimized machinability; The hardness is 61 ~ 64HRC after oil quenching at 990 ~ 1030 ℃, and the comprehensive properties are the best after quenching at 1030 ℃. Tempering: tempering twice at 420 ~ 550 ℃ (three times at 540 ℃ are recommended), hardness 38 ~ 58HRC, toughness and wear resistance;
Hot processing control: the forging temperature is between 1,180 and 850 deg C, and coarse carbide is prevented from being precipitated at a low temperature; Purity Inclusion control: non-metallic inclusion ≤ 2.0 (GB/T 10561), sulfur and phosphorus content ≤ 0.030%;
Gas content: hydrogen content ≤ 2.0 ppm (vacuum degassing process guarantee);
Micro-Structure
Quenched state: tempered martensite matrix + fine MC/MC type carbides (such as VC, MoC), carbides are evenly dispersed; Annealed state: granular pear-lite + spheroidized carbide, grade 4-4.5;
Impact Work
Toughness performance: after quenching at 1030 ℃ and tempering at 540 ℃ for three times, the impact energy reaches 32.4 J/cm ², which is significantly better than that of traditional hot work die steel (such as 3Cr2W8V);

Executive standard: GB/T 6402-91 or GB/T 2970 Grade I, internal defects ≤ φ2mm equivalent, no macroscopic defects such as white spots and cracks (refer to the standards of similar hot-working die steel);
