Introduction to HM3 mold steel products:
The service life of HM3 mold steel molds is improved by 2 to 10 times compared to molds made of 3Cr2W8V steel, 5CrNiMo steel, and 4Cr5W2VSi steel, effectively overcoming early failures caused by thermal wear, thermal fatigue, and thermal cracking.
Cr3Mo3VNb (HM3 mold steel) is a new type of high-strength and toughness hot forging mold steel developed with reference to foreign H10 steel and 1.2365 series hot work mold steel, combined with the resource situation in China.
3Cr3Mo3VNb (HM3 steel) is characterized by the addition of trace element Nb at a lower carbon content, giving HM3 steel higher temper resistance and thermal strength, with a significant secondary hardening effect.
The disadvantage of 3Cr3Mo3VNb (HM3) is its tendency for decarburization.
Production practice shows that for molds used in forming heat-resistant steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys, 5CrNiMo steel, 3Cr2W8V steel, and 4Cr5W2VSi steel cannot meet production requirements, while HM3 steel can significantly improve the service life of forging molds.
.
HM3 steel is a high-strength and toughness hot work mold steel, with various alloy elements giving this mold steel high hardenability, high toughness, and high temper stability. This steel exhibits secondary hardening phenomena, making it particularly suitable for hot extrusion molds. However, this steel is carbon-sensitive and should be protected during quenching heating or heated in a vacuum. The Ac1 of the steel is 836~948℃, Ar1 is 771~923℃, and Ms is 390℃. Isothermal quenching temperatures below 400℃ can form lower bainite.
HM3 steel is tempered at 550℃, showing a peak of secondary hardening, while the plane strain fracture toughness K1C value is high, and it has good thermal fatigue performance.
Applications of HM3 steel: It has good effects on molds for hot forging forming concave molds, connecting rod roll forging molds, bearing ring blank hot extrusion concave molds, high-strength steel precision forging molds, small machine forging molds, aluminum alloy die-casting molds, etc., and is also suitable for manufacturing various roll forging molds.
.
Examples of HM steel applications:
1. Used for hot forging forming concave molds for GCR15 steel bearing rings, made from 5CrNiMo, 3Cr2W8V, GC15 steel, showing severe wear, thermal fatigue, thermal cracking, and collapse deformation at the interface, with a service life of only 0.1 to 0.3.
Generally, slight thermal fatigue and thermal cracking phenomena appear after using 0.8 million pieces.
2. Connecting rod roll forging forming molds, which have large dimensions and harsh working conditions, experience severe wear, thermal fatigue, and fracture failure.
The HM3 steel roll forging mold can eliminate the above defects, with a service life of up to 19,000 pieces.
3. Using hot forging molds made of 4Cr5W2VSi steel, although the service life is twice that of 5CrNiMo steel, it is still below 0.1 million pieces, and during use, severe early failure phenomena such as wear, collapse, cavity expansion, dimensional deviation, and cracking easily occur.
After using HM3 steel to manufacture such molds, the service life is improved by 5-10 times and 2-5 times compared to 5CrNiMo and 4Cr5W2VSi.
4. The service life of this steel on forging molds can also be significantly improved compared to H13 steel, generally reaching about twice that of H13 steel.
In-stock supply: H M 3 mold steel (3Cr3Mo3VNb) Therefore, it is recommended to use 1.2365 mold steel in the fields of mold processing and mechanical processing to meet different processing requirements, improve work efficiency and service life.
