Hot Work Tool Steel

It is a high wear-resistant hot forging tool steel, characterized by good toughness, high strength, and good wear resistance. The tool steel produced by Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) + Refining (LT) + Vacuum (VD) has high purity and good performance.

Characteristics and Application Range

1. Oil-quenched and gas-quenched plastic mold steel, with good hardenability.

2. Good toughness.

3. Good heat resistance, also suitable for use in cold work tool steel.

4. Suitable for surface treatment.

5. Good polishing performance.

Heat Treatment

Forging 1100-850℃

*Annealing: 760-780℃ Hardness: 197-241HB

*Quenching Temperature: 890-910℃, oil cooling, Hardness: 61.5HRC

*Tempering Temperature: 420-550℃, tempering twice

*Hardness: 38-47HRC

※ This steel can harden when cooled in air and is prone to white spots, so it should be cooled slowly after forging.

※ For large forgings, they must be placed in a furnace at 600℃, and after the temperature is uniform, slowly cool to 150-200℃, then cool in air.

※ For larger forgings, it is recommended to immediately temper after cooling to 150-200℃.

Application Status:36-52HRC.

Ultrasonic Inspection

ASTM A388-FBH max. 6mm (1/4 inch) or SEP 1921-test group 3-class E, or as per customer requirements.

Main Applications

1. This type of steel is used to manufacture various large and medium-sized forging molds.

2. Extrusion tools, support tools, mold frames.

3. Large molds used in the processing of thermoplastic plastics.

4. Press shafts, buckles.
