Three Main Causes of Mold Sticking and Solutions

I. Mold Issues

The mold itself is rough or improperly processed. Solutions include zinc plating, chrome plating, and Teflon plating.

II. Impurities Accumulated in the Mold

Solutions: For small areas, carefully remove impurities with a needle. For larger areas, clean with a mold wash. The main cause of this problem is insufficient sulfur. After insufficient sulfur, a small amount of accumulated rubber is not cleaned, and the accumulated rubber sticks to the rubber, accumulating more and more, making the mold unable to produce normally. Also, spraying more and more mold release agents causes a large amount of silicone to accumulate in the mold, making mold sticking even more serious. The solution is still mold washing.

III. Rubber Compound Issues

First, the hot tear strength of the rubber compound itself is poor. When the mold is rough, it is easy for small particles of rubber to break in the mold, accumulating more and more, causing mold sticking. The solution is to use rubbers with high hot tear strength, such as natural rubber, and clean the mold.

Another is that the formula itself is too sticky and easily sticks to the mold. The solution is to add an internal mold release agent or spray an external mold release agent. However, it is not recommended to use mold release agents, because any mold release agent will accumulate silicone, and too much silicone accumulation will also cause mold sticking. Molds that use mold release agents must be electroplated; otherwise, they will still stick after mold washing, even damaging the mold and affecting its service life.
